Field trips are very important student activities outside of school to give students more ‘real-world’ experiences. It has always been an exciting experience for Metta School students to do field trip activities as it offers a new and fun type of learning process.
Last October lower grade Metta School students (from Preschool 1 until Kindergarten 2) had a chance to do a field trip activity in Pizza Hut Pakuwon Mall Surabaya. It was a good opportunity for them to sharpen their life skills, stir up their creativity and soak up knowledge about the culinary field.
In the beginning, students were given basic information about the ingredients such as pizza dough, toppings (beef, sausage, cheese, etc.), and sauce. Then, they started to make their own pizza by spreading the sauce and the toppings. While waiting for the dough to be baked, they had a small coloring activity to spend their time. They had so much fun baking a pizza with their friends.
In conclusion, field trips provide students the opportunity to take a break from their normal routine and experience more hands-on learning.
